Address Gaps from Missing Teeth

A dental bridge effectively restores both the look and functionality of your mouth by spanning spaces with a prosthetic tooth. This tooth is anchored by dental implants, your existing teeth, or both. Often called a ‘fixed partial denture,’ dental bridges are permanently attached, eliminating the need for nightly removal or special cleaning. Bridging these gaps is crucial, not only for aesthetic reasons but also for maintaining overall oral health. Without a bridge, missing teeth can hinder your ability to speak or chew properly, and existing teeth may shift into the open spaces.

Enduring Advantages of Dental Bridges

The absence of one or more teeth can impact your self-esteem and comfort. Dental bridges not only help restore your smile to its natural state but also provide lasting benefits for your surrounding teeth and overall oral bone health. Here’s a breakdown of the benefits:

Immediate Comfort

The benefits are immediate, impacting your daily life. Regain your natural smile and the ability to eat confidently. The presence of gaps can make speaking or eating uncomfortable or even painful. Dental bridges offer a durable remedy for this discomfort, lasting over a decade with proper maintenance.

Tooth Health

Teeth rely on each other for support and help maintain your facial structure. Missing teeth can lead to an altered bite and create space for other teeth to shift, potentially causing decay, periodontal disease, jaw pain, and TMJ disorders. A dental bridge prevents these shifts, safeguarding against these risks.

Bone Health

Healthy teeth promote a healthy jawbone. As dental health wanes, so does the bone and tissue health that supports your teeth. By stabilizing your dental situation with a bridge, you can decelerate the bone loss associated with missing teeth.

Cost of Dental Bridges in Orillia

The price of a dental bridge can differ significantly depending on individual needs. Without insurance, you might expect to pay approximately $2,000 to $3,000 or more.

Factors Influencing the Cost of a Dental Bridge:
  • The type and material of the bridge
  • The number of missing teeth
  • The location and complexity of the placement
  • The health of the adjacent teeth
  • The specific supplies and equipment required for your treatment

It’s crucial to remember that no dental office can provide an exact price estimate over the phone. Every patient’s situation is as unique as their smile. To get a clear understanding of your options and an accurate price, it’s essential to consult with a dentist and undergo a thorough oral examination. If you have dental insurance, your dentist can provide a detailed quote for you to submit to your insurance company, helping you understand your out-of-pocket costs before making any decisions.

Your consultation will include an examination of everything from your teeth, gums and soft tissues to the shape and condition of your bite. Generally, we want to see how your whole mouth looks and functions. Before we plan your treatment we want to know everything about the health and aesthetic of your smile, and, most importantly, what you want to achieve so we can help you get there.

Frequently Asked Questions

It typically takes a few weeks to adjust to a new dental bridge. During this period, you might notice increased sensitivity in your teeth and gums, but this usually diminishes as your mouth becomes accustomed to the new structure.

No, dental bridges are made from materials that do not respond to whitening treatments like natural teeth. To maintain a consistent color, it’s advisable to whiten your natural teeth to your desired shade before the bridge is fabricated.

Alternatives to dental bridges include dental implants and removable partial dentures. Each option has its own set of advantages and suitability depending on the patient’s oral health, budget, and preferences.

Care for a dental bridge involves regular brushing and flossing, just like your natural teeth. It’s also important to clean under the bridge to prevent plaque buildup. Regular dental check-ups and cleanings are essential to ensure the longevity of the bridge.

Yes, a dental bridge can fail due to issues like poor fitting, dental decay under the crowns, or trauma. Signs of failure include movement of the bridge, discomfort when chewing, or a noticeable odor from the area around the bridge. If you experience any of these, consult your dentist promptly.

Dr. Mendel is so kind and patient. It takes me longer to freeze and I'm very picky and indecisive during a bite check but I never feel rushed through the processes (even though I'm sure they're very busy). Ive been to many dentists, good and bad experiences, but Bayside Dentistry has been the most positive and informative dental experience I've had.

Moved from Toronto about 3 years ago and had been travelling back and forth to the city for dental appointments. Last year I had a dental emergency, severe pain in my left side, couldn’t sleep for days and needed urgent dental attention. I called around to different local dentists and Bayside was able to get me in almost immediately. I ended up having an abscess tooth (ouch) which didn’t improve with antibiotics alone which meant I had to get a pulpectomy followed by a root canal once the infection went away. I’m not a huge fan of the dentist to begin with, but with the level of pain and discomfort I was feeling, I was thrilled to be in the dental chair and have someone help me. I’m very grateful for the friendly, caring and professional staff at Bayside and I’ve decided to start coming here instead of using my dentist in the city.

My husband and I are new to Bayside Dentistry and they are an amazing group. The front desk are so gentle and reassuring. I had the manager (Hygenist) yesterday do a cleaning and she was wonderful. I have had a bad experience with many dentists from a young age so I'm very nervous. Trust Bayside Dentistry to give you their best service. They listen to your fears and concerns. My husband and I will be back as we trust Bayside Dentistry. Thank you all so much
